Implied odds in poker
The extra money you expect to win on later streets when you hit your draw, beyond what is in the pot now.
Pot odds only count the money already in the middle. Implied odds account for the bets you expect to collect after your draw comes in.
Calling $50 into a $150 pot needs 25% equity on pot odds alone. A gutshot straight draw has about 16.5%, so the immediate price is not enough. But if hitting it would win another $200 from a committed opponent, the call can still make money.
Implied odds depend on stack depth, there has to be money left to win, and on how likely your opponent is to pay you. They are an estimate, not a calculation, so treat them as a reason to make a close call rather than a loose one.
